Last updated: May 27, 2026
Short version
Bottomline is a personal budgeting app. You stay responsible for the financial information you enter and the decisions you make with it. The app is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store.
1. Who Provides Bottomline
Budget Planner by Bottomline ("Bottomline," "the app," "Service," "we," "our," or "us") is provided by KD incubator UG (Haftungsbeschränkt), Schonensche Str. 13, 10439 Berlin, Germany. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the app and this website.
2. Acceptance of These Terms
By downloading, accessing, purchasing, subscribing to, or using Bottomline, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Bottomline on behalf of another person or organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.
3. What Bottomline Does
Bottomline helps you record, organize, and review personal budgeting information. Depending on the version and features available to you, the app may let you:
- track income, expenses, and transactions;
- create budgets, categories, recurring items, and goals;
- view charts, summaries, insights, and progress indicators;
- export data you entered;
- sync app data through Apple iCloud if enabled.
We may add, change, limit, suspend, or remove features over time. Some features may require a compatible device, Apple account, internet access, iCloud availability, or a paid entitlement.
4. Eligibility
You may use Bottomline only if you can legally enter into these Terms and comply with applicable laws. Bottomline is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may use the app only with consent and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
5. Your Data and Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and backup of the information you enter into Bottomline. You should review your budgets, reports, exports, and app settings before relying on them. You are also responsible for protecting your device, Apple ID, iCloud account, passcodes, backups, and exported files.
You retain ownership of the financial and personal information you enter. You grant us only the limited rights needed to provide, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Bottomline, as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use Bottomline for illegal, harmful, or abusive purposes;
- interfere with the app, website, servers, or security;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works;
- remove copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices;
- resell, rent, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app;
- misrepresent your identity when contacting us;
- use the app in a way that violates Apple's rules.
7. No Financial, Investment, Tax, or Legal Advice
Bottomline is an informational personal finance tool. It does not provide financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, credit counseling, accounting services, or professional financial planning. Budgets, summaries, charts, reminders, goals, projections, categorizations, and other outputs are based on the data available to the app and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
You are solely responsible for financial decisions you make. Consult qualified professionals before making decisions involving taxes, investments, debts, loans, insurance, legal obligations, or other important financial matters.
8. Purchases, Subscriptions, Trials, and Refunds
Paid features may be offered as subscriptions, trials, one-time purchases, lifetime purchases, or other purchase types shown in the App Store or inside the app. Prices, durations, included features, and trial availability may vary by country, currency, promotion, app version, and App Store rules.
- App Store purchases are charged to your Apple ID account.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through Apple at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.
- Refunds, cancellations, billing disputes, and payment method issues are generally handled by Apple under App Store policies.
- Deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription.
If a purchase is described as "lifetime," it means access for the lifetime of the app or purchased feature as we make it available. It does not guarantee that the app, platform, third party services, operating systems, or every feature will remain available forever.
9. Apple App Store Terms
If you download Bottomline from the Apple App Store, you also agree to Apple's applicable terms. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Bottomline, its content, maintenance, support, warranties, or claims, except as required by applicable law or Apple's own terms.
10. Intellectual Property
Bottomline, including its software, interface, design, text, graphics, logo, app icon, website, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms and Apple's rules.
11. Third-Party Services
Bottomline may depend on third-party platforms or services, such as Apple, iCloud, App Store payment infrastructure, device operating systems, hosting providers, diagnostics services, or email providers. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, data loss, policy changes, pricing changes, or security incidents outside our control.
12. Availability, Changes, and Support
We try to keep Bottomline useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the app or website will always be available, secure, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device, or free from data loss. We may release updates, change requirements, discontinue features, or stop supporting older versions. Some updates may be required for continued use.
13. Warranty Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bottomline is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, or reliability.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer protection law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of data, loss of savings, business interruption, device problems, or financial losses arising from your use of or inability to use Bottomline.
Under German law, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, guarantees, product liability, or other liability that cannot be excluded by law. For simple negligence, liability is limited to breaches of material contractual obligations and to foreseeable damages typical for this type of contract.
15. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from your misuse of Bottomline, violation of these Terms, violation of law, or infringement of third-party rights.
16. Termination
You may stop using Bottomline at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the app, website, or support if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, create risk for other users or us, or if we discontinue the app or a feature. Termination does not automatically cancel App Store subscriptions, which must be managed through Apple.
17. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed in connection with Bottomline. Please read it carefully. It forms an important part of your relationship with us.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when the app, legal requirements, pricing, features, or business needs change. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
19. Governing Law and Consumer Rights
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding conflict of law rules and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection rules, those mandatory protections remain unaffected.
20. Dispute Resolution
If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated or willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board unless required by law.
21. Final Provisions
If any provision of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the app or business.
